ABSTRACT

Objective@#To explore the association of health literacy with smoking attempt behavior among middle school students in China,and to provide ideas for health education for middle school students.@*Methods@#Using stratified cluster sampling method, 1 066 students were selected from Zhejiang, Guangdong, Jiangxi, Sichuan and Guizhou provinces in China during June to November 2017, a questionnaire survey was conducted to collect health literacy and smoking attempt behavior.@*Results@#The score of health literacy among middle school students was (13.49±1.87). Students who lived in eastern and rural areas, girls, guardians who were jointly supervised by their parents and grandparents, the only child, non smokers, and small amount of weekly pocket money had higher scores in health literacy( t/F =9.81,3.10,11.12,2.65,3.50,4.47,2.64, P <0.05). The prevalence of smoking attempt behavior was 5.5%. Multiple Logistic regression analyses showed that central and western China, drinking and low healthy literacy were positively correlated with smoking attempt behavior ( OR =2.75, 3.54, 21.62, 2.50, P <0.05).@*Conclusion@#Low healthy literacy can be used as a predictor of smoking attempt among middle school students, the health education should be conducted to control the smoking attempt behavior.

ABSTRACT

@#Nanocrystals are nanoscale (1-1000 nm) dispersion systems in which small numbers of surfactants or polymers are used as stabilizers to disperse insoluble drug particles in water or oil. Nanocrystals enjoy not only high drug content, but also a simple and mature preparation process. At present, 24 nanocrystals products that have been marketed mainly focus on enhancing the solubility and bioavailability of poorly soluble drugs. And recent years have witnessed an increasing number of research reports on target drug delivery of nanocrystals through particle size control and surface modification. This paper mainly introduces three targeting strategies for prolonging the in vivo circulation time of nanocrystals, increasing the affinity for tumor cells and achieving the response to internal and external stimuli, and discusses the current challenges in the application of nanocrystal technology to targeted anti-tumor drugs.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To explore diagnostic value of soluble tumor necrosis factor - like weak inducer of apoptosis (sTWEAK) and interleukin (IL) -6 concentrations in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) .Methods:A total of 170 ACS patients hospitalized in our hospital from Jan 1st ,2014 to Jun 31st ,2014 were selected as ACS group ,mean‐while ,80 inpatients with stable angina pectoris (SAP) confirmed by coronary angiography (CAG) or coronary CT were se‐lected as SAP group ,and another 80 patients excluded for coronary heart disease (CHD) by CAG were regarded as normal control group .ACS group was further divided into ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) group (n=45) ,non -STEMI (NSTEMI) group (n=52) and unstable angina pectoris (UAP) group (n=73) .Plasma sTWEAK and serum IL‐6 concentrations were compared among all groups .Results:Compared with normal control group and SAP group ,there were significant rise in concentrations of plasma sTWEAK [ (120.32 ± 10.15) ng/L vs .(123.86 ± 15.23) ng/L vs .(140.05 ± 17.51) ng/L] and serum IL‐6 [ (110.34 ± 26.01) pg/ml vs .(112.38 ± 25.74) pg/ml vs .(245.23 ± 68.58) pg/ml] (P0.05. There were no significant difference in plasma sTWEAK and serum IL‐6 concentrations among UAP group ,NSTEMI group and STEMI group , P>0.05 all .Conclusion:Plasma sTWEAK and serum IL‐6 concentrations significantly rise in ACS patients ,which possesses certain diagnostic value for ACS .

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the relationship of serum homocysteine ( Hcy) level with metabolic syndrome (MS) and its components.Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted in 594 adults consec-utively sampled from people visiting Fuwai Hospital for physical examination between September and Decem-ber 2012, including 160 MS participants (MS group) and 434 without MS participancs (without MS group). Serum Hcy levels, serum biochemical parameters, and anthropometric measurements of all the participants were collected.Binary logistic regression was used to assess the association of serum Hcy levels with MS and its components.Results No significant difference in Hcy levels was observed comparing the MS group and the without MS group [(12.2 ±7.0) μmol/L vs.(12.6 ±8.4) μmol/L, P>0.05].Between participants with and without hyperhomocysteinemia (≥15 μmol/L vs.0.05).Among participants having 0 to 5 metabolic abnormalities, there were no significant differences in ser-um Hcy levels [ (12.3 ±7.4) μmol/L; (12.4 ±6.7) μmol/L; (13.2 ±11.2) μmol/L; (12.5 ± 7.8) μmol/L; (11.2 ±2.7) μmol/L; (12.4 ±4.3) μmol/L; all P>0.05].In a binary logistic re-gression model adjusted for age, gender, body mass index, total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein choles-terol, and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein, neither MS nor its components were independent predictors of serum Hcy levels ( all P>0.05 ) .Conclusions Elevated serum Hcy levels are not associated with MS or its components in people without evident cardiovascular diseases .MS and elevated serum Hcy levels may cause cardiovascular diseases via different mechanisms .

ABSTRACT

Objective To isolate and culture the spontaneous ascites cells from Microtus fortis under artificial conditions, so as to investigate the molecular mechanism at the cell level. Methods The cells were isolated from spontaneous ascites of M. fortis artificially bred for 90 d,and were cultured and observed under a microscope. The differences of ascites cells among nor?mal,spontaneous ascites and schistosomiasis infected samples of M. fortis were compared. The lesion of tissue was observed si?multaneously. Results There were no obvious organ tissue lesions in M. fortis with spontaneous ascites,and the number and types of cells in peritoneal fluid were irregular and significantly changed. With the extension of culture time ,the colonies ap?peared and there were a large number of vacuole?like cells in the cultured medium and sequentially presenting proliferation ,de?formation,disintegration and the fiber?like changes and could be passaged 3-4 d only. Conclusion The cells from M. fortis with spontaneous ascites are similar to its abdominal cavity cells after infection of Schistosoma japonica.

ABSTRACT

ObjectiveTo investigate the relationship between autoimmune thyroid disorders (AITD) and thyroid cancer (TC) in children.Methods Clinical date from 68 patients who underwent thyroidectomy and were histologically conifrmed with TC were retrospectively analyzed from 2000 to 2008. Age, gender, nodular size, lymph node metastasis, and invasive status of thyroid cancer were compared between patients with and without AITD.Results In 68 patients with TC, 45.6% (31/68) patients had concurrent AITD. Compared with those without AITD, a greater female preponderance, older age, smaller tumour size, higher TSH values, higher TG values, shorter survival time, lower disease free survival rate, and higher relapse rate were found in patients with AITD (P<0.05).Conclusions AITD are associated with TC in children. Follow-up is suggested in children with AITD.

ABSTRACT

Objective To establish a high-performance induction culture system for Raw264.7 cells to differentiate into osteoclasts(OC)invitro by improving the cell culture program.Methods The Raw264.7 cells were cultured withα-MEM medium containing 50 μg · L-1 M-CSF, 100 μg · L-1 RANKL, and 1 × 10-8 mol · L-1 1α,25-(OH)2 D3 in 5% CO2 for 12 d at 37℃. The cells were digested transiently every time before the medium was changed after every three days. The morphologic changes of the Raw264.7 cells were observed by inverted microscope.The maturation and phagotrophic function of OC were identified by HE,TRAP,FITC-phalloidin staining and immunofluorescence.Results The cells remained to grow in single layers all the time in most areas of the well during the whole induction by the improved culture program. The observation results of inverted microscope and HE staining showed that the growth area of the polykaryotic OC reached to 70% of the well on day 1 2. FITC-phalloidin staining showed that in the maturation of the OC, the cluster-shaped podosomes in the pseudopodia gradually transformed into rings,which finally fused to form a large belt surrounding the periphery of the cytoplasm. The calcitionin receptor (CTR) expressed by OC was markedly enhanced compared with the precursor cells by immunofluroescence staining,and a large number of red granules appeared in the cytoplasm of OC with TRAP staining on day 1 2. These results comfirmed that the obtained OC were maturated and owned phagotrophic function. Conclusion A high-performance induction culture system for Raw264. 7 cells to differentiate into OC in vitro induced by combination of 50μg · L-1 M-CSF, 100 μg · L-1 RANKL,and 1 × 10-8 mol·L-1 1α,25-(OH)2 D3 is established by improving the cell culture program.

ABSTRACT

A novel recombinant Bacille Calmette-Guerin (rBCG) vaccine co-expressed Eimeria tenella rhomboid and cytokine chicken IL-2 (chIL-2) was constructed, and its efficacy against E. tenella challenge was observed. The rhomboid gene of E. tenella and chIL-2 gene were subcloned into integrative expression vector pMV361, producing vaccines rBCG pMV361-rho and pMV361-rho-IL2. Animal experiment via intranasal and subcutaneous route in chickens was carried out to evaluate the immune efficacy of the vaccines. The results indicated that these rBCG vaccines could obviously alleviate cacal lesions and oocyst output. Intranasal immunization with pMV361-rho and pMV361-rho-IL2 elicited better protective immunity against E. tenella than subcutaneous immunization. Splenocytes from chickens immunized with either rBCG pMV361-rho and pMV361-rho-IL2 had increased CD4+ and CD8+ cell production. Our data indicate recombinant BCG is able to impart partial protection against E. tenella challenge and co-expression of cytokine with antigen was an effective strategy to improve vaccine immunity.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To investigate the effect and clinical value of simultaneous multiple plane operations in treating severe OSAHS.@*METHOD@#The clinical data of 93 patients with severe OSAHS were retrospectively analyzed. According to different obstruction plane, all the patients were performed different multiple planes of operations. Operations were finished in the same term. All patients underwent PSG examination before operation and 6-month, 1 year after surgical treatment separately.@*RESULT@#No severe complication occurred. According to the assessment guidelines, the response rate was 100% in 6-month and 91.40% in 1-year respectively.@*CONCLUSION@#Most OSAHS have multi-level obstructions in upper airway caliber, such as nasal, nasopharyngeal, velo-pharyngeal and tongue-pharyngeal obstruction. Simultaneous multiple plane operations which based on multiple plane obstruction can improve curative effect.

Objective To evaluate the effect of azithromycin on mycoplasmal pneumonia (MP).Methods We divided 90 MP cases into azithromycin and erythromycin treatment groups. In azithromycinThe pyretolysis time, cough improvement time, the disappearing time and the mean length of hospitalization of azithromycin group were shorter than that of erythrornycin group. The local ache, stomach and intestinal tract adverse reaction, and damage of hepar function were less than these in erythromycin group. ConclusionAzithromycin is an effective and safe drug to MP.

ABSTRACT

ObjectiveTo explore the significance of intrauterine infection of hepatitis B virus in pregnant women with hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) and hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg) negative by nested polymerase chain reaction (PCR). MethodsTwenty-four pregnant women with HBsAg and HBeAg negative but other HBV markers positive together with their infants were included as study group. Sixteen pregnant women with HBV marker negative and their infants were in the control group. HBV DNA in sera and peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) of two groups was detected by nested PCR respectively. Results(1)In the study group, the positive rates of HBV DNA of pregnant women were 33% (8/24) in the sera and 42% (10/24) in PBMCs. Three women were detected HBV DNA in both serum and PBMCs. The rate of HBV infection was 63% (15/24); (2)also in the study group, the positive rates of HBV DNA of the infants were 13% (3/24) in the sera and 25% (6/24) in PBMCs. One newborn was detected HBV DNA in both serum and PBMCs, the rate of intrauterine infection of HBV was 33% (8/24); (3) HBV DNA was detected in sera and/or in PBMCs from four newborns of pregnant women with HBV DNA positive only in PBMCs, the positive ratio was 4/7. ConclusionsHBV intrauterine infection is possible in pregnant women with HBsAg and HBeAg negative. Detecting HBV-DNA in sera and PBMCs of pregnant women and their newborns by PCR is important clinical significance.

Objective To determine the level of five trace elements(Fe 2+ ?Cu 2+ ?Zn 2+ ?Ca 2+ ?Mg 2+ )in the spleen and changes of T lymphocyte and its subtype variations in peripheral blood from the rats infected with Toxoplasma gondii . Methods Twenty rats were randomly and equally divided into two groups: control group and experiment group. Each rat in the experiment group received an ip injection of 2 ml normal saline containing 1.5?10 6 tachyzoites of T. gondii . On the 64th day after injection of T.gondii , the changes in T lymphocytes (TL) and their subgroups, the helper T lymphocytes (Th) and the suppressor T lymphocytes(Ts) in the peripheral blood of the rats with T.gondii were determined by the assay of the lymphocytes labeled with intercellular acid ? naphthyl acetate esterase. All the rats were killed and the atomic absorption method were used for detecting the level of trace elements in the spleen tissue. ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the optimal condition for in vitro cultivation of Trichomonas vaginalis for obtaining a better harvest of T^vaginalis. Methods An isolate of T^vaginalis from clinical specimens was cultivated in three different media with initial inoculation of 9^0?10\+4/ml under pH 5^6. Results There was distinct difference after 96h incubation in the cumulative harvest of T.vaginalis. The highest harvest was received in cysteine/liver/peptone/maltose medium, followed by the liver/peptone/maltose medium and soybean/liver/peptone/maltose medium. Conclusion The cysteine/liver/peptone/maltose medium may be a suitable environment for in vitro multiplication of T.vaginalis.

ABSTRACT

Objective To study the significance of DNA of Toxoplasma gondii in peripheral blood. Methods DNA of T.gondii in peripheral blood of 50 infected rats was detected by polymerase chain reaction. A pair of primers was designed, according to the sequence P30 gene specific to T.gondii, to amplify DNA from T.gondii by PCR. Results The primers amplified DNA specifically from T.gondii and could not amplify DNA from humans, uninfected rat and mouse and from Trichomonas vaginalis and Entamoeba histolytica. DNA of two Toxoplasma parasites was detected by 35 cycles of amplification, indicating a fair sensitivity of the PCR system. Conclusion PCR may have a value for early diagnosis of T.gondii infection in rat.

ABSTRACT

In order to produce valuable monoclonal antibodies for immunodiagnosis of cysticerco-sis, hybridoma technique was adopted using the fusion of splenic lymphocytes from BALB/c mice immunized with Cysticercus cellulosae antigens and the myeloma cell line NS-1. Through screening and cloning, three monoclonal antibody cell lines have been established. Im- munoglobulin subclasses of 3 lines were determined to be IgGl. These monoclonal antibodies were found to be highly specific and without cross reaction with Echinococcus granulosus hy-datid cyst and Cysticercus fasciolasis. Antigen fractions specifically reacting to monoclonal antibodies were demonstrated with Western blot method. The results showed that specific reaction bands of SCW located in 25 kDa and 17 kDa regions.
